Fun with drums In this workshop fun is guaranteed! On the fun-to-hit tom style drums we will play some simple rhythm games before learning a easy samba-based groove. These sessions are ideal for nursery groups and younger children. Grooving along
Participants will learn a piece of samba. This can then be expanded by adding a separate introduction, ending and 'breaks' on top. The group will be 'grooving along' within 15 minutes. Suitable for older children and adults. Sessions can last as long as you can! A group of participants can choose to specialise on one of the samba instruments e.g. bass surdos, fast snares, high-pitched tambourims, melodic ago-go bells, or cracking repeniques. We will then learn a piece together over an hour or longer. Sessions can be a one-off group activity, great for team building events, staff parties, hen nights etc. Alternatively workshops could run over a period of weeks culminating in a performance at school, a local event or concert. Barulho Beat
Barulho Beat was first formed in 2001/2002. Barulho means 'noise' in Portugese, appropriate for a group of drummers we thought! Currently there are 17 women in the band. Our style is a fusion of samba with a variety of other influences. Barulho Beat are great for live gigs where powerful and funky rhythms are needed to grab attention and keep the crowd entertained.
